Creative text - need of the day, says expert

Professors from six states such as West Bengal and Assam participated in the workshop.

Citing examples of the visual arts that includes fresh ideas on a regular basis, Prof Chakravarthy it was similarly necessary to infuse creative writing in books and course materials.

Addressing participants, Professor of Kannada, Kuvempu Institute of Kannada Studies, Dr Krishna Murthy Hanur mentioned that even though people from rural areas had no formal education, they are rich in creativity. He stressed on developing creativity over a period. Citing an example of the modern society, he said that several modern day experiences can used be used as a source for creative writing.

He urged upon participants to introduce new facets that can arouse the interest of the readers.

Director, UGC-Academic Staff College, University of Mysore, Prof G Venkatesh Kumar and others were present.
