Defeating the high command’s efforts to bring all stakeholders on a common platform, Azad’s instructions were ignored by the party MPs on Tuesday as those from Telangana refused to come along with their counterparts from Andhra and Rayalaseema region to Gandhi Bhavan.

The biggest contingent to meet Azad was the Telangana Congress MPs, MLAs, MLC and other senior leaders led by Rajya Sabha member K Keshava Rao and former home minister K Jana Reddy. All of them wanted an immediate decision on Telangana before June when the TRS had threatened a non-stop agitation.

Appeasement policy
Keshava Rao cautioned Azad that the state congressmen were fed up with the appeasement policy of the Centre towards the TRS, and would take to street agitation if further ignored.

Some legislators of Seema Andhra also called on him to impress upon the need to keep the state united in the interests of development.

Meanwhile, the AICC functionaries met the chief minister and APCC president D Srinivas separately and discussed issues like Jagan and Telangana.
