Morgan set to return to IPL if not picked by England for Tests

Last Updated 20 May 2011, 14:17 IST

Morgan has made it clear that he will leave for India if his services are not required by his national team during the Test matches.

"If I'm not picked I'll make other plans," Morgan, who hit an unbeaten 156 while playing for England Lions against Sri Lanka in a warm-up match at Derby today, told the reporters after the day's play.

"We (Kolkata Knight Riders) are looking good at the IPL so if we make the final I'll fly back out," he added.

The warm-up match would end on May 22 and the England squad will also be announced on the same day. So, if Morgan is not picked in the squad, he could make it back to the cash-rich event's play-offs just in time as it starts on May 24.

And the Kolkata Kinght Riders are in all probability going to make it to the play-off stage of the tournament.

Morgan has failed to make an impression in this season of the IPL, having scored just 137 runs from nine innings, with a top score of 66.

He, however, feels that his experience of playing in India has made him a better player.
"The conditions out there are difficult and I've learnt a lot, but it was tough. I got very few opportunities early on so it was all part of the learning curve," said Morgan.
