The Kalyanamastu was held in all the 294 Assembly segments in Andhra Pradesh during the auspicious Karkataka lagnam between 9:52 am and 10:04 am.

The TTD’s Kalyanamastu programme was launched in 2007 by Y S Rajasekhara Reddy with an objective to relieve the poor people from the debt trap while performing the weddings in their families.

In Hyderabad, Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy, ministers Mukesh Yadav and Sabita Indra Reddy and MP Anjan Kumar Yadav participated at Lalita kala thoranam. According to TTD Executive Officer I Y R Krishna Rao, the TTD spent approximately Rs 7,000

“The newlywed will be provided ‘darshan’ of Lord Venkateswara at Tirumala and transport and accommodation facility at 50 per cent concession,” Rao said.

A wedding certificate was handed over to the married couples on the spot. An already married man and a woman, who wanted to marry for a second time, were caught and their wedding was cancelled by the TTD authorities.  Police said they were  investigating reports of minor girls being married.
