Jude Devadas, the COO of The George Foundation Indian Institute of Journalism and New Media in Kumbalgod, was arrested Thursday evening at his Kalyan Nagar office.
E Mani, proprietor of Makewell Computers, had in his complaint alleged that Devadas had borrowed Rs 18.7 lakh from him to construct a house and didn’t repay.
Mani had supplied computers worth Rs 22.5 lakh to the institute. Devadas, while clearing the bills, had borrowed money from him, he alleged. When Devadas didn’t repay even after six to seven months, Mani threatened to sue him. Devadas gave him two cheques which were dishonoured.
Based on Mani’s complaint, the police began a lookout for Devadas and after two months traced him to the foundation’s Kalyan Nagar office.
