'Return DC allotted land to SC/STs'

Speaking to the media persons, the Trust President Chandra Kumar Mangalore said that in many areas the land allotted by the DC for the SC/ST communities has been acquired by the Forest Department. The same land has to be returned by the district administration to the SC/ST families.  “The 'Kumki' land in which the SC/ST families are residing since several years should not be acquired by the district administration, rather the land should be granted to the same families as they own the 'Kumki' right,” he said.

According to a survey conducted by Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe Development Charitable Trust, he said there are umpteen number of educated but unemployed youth from SC/ST communities. Either these youth are unemployed or they are engaged as daily wage labourers. In a job fair conducted by the Trust recently in Moodbidri, as many as 1,576 educated but unemployed youth belonging to SC/ST community from Moodbidri and surrounding areas took part seeking jobs.
