2-day police custody for Dr Renukaprasad

The accused was handed over to judicial custody for 15 days, from May 10. But during this period, the accused got admitted to Wenlock Hospital citing health reasons. He was discharged from the hospital on May 18. Meanwhile, the police had urged the court to hand over the accused for police custody. Accordingly the court had ordered to hand over the accused to the police on May 19 and 20. But the accused, citing health reasons again got admitted to the hospital.

When the police again sought custody of the accused, the court said that they could take the accused to custody on the release of the accused.

Renukaprasad was discharged from the hospital on May 23 and the police have again sought the custody of the accused at Sullia Court.

The advocate of the accused M Venkappa Gowda (argued on behalf of P P Hegde) said that the accused should not be handed over to the police as he was under police custody as the accused was unwell.

However, the Court has ordered to hand over the accused to police custody for two days, that is, on May 26 and 27.
