Lightning kills 2 boys

Mallaiah (14) was killed when lightning struck his house in Balichakra village of Yadgir taluk. Tayamma (4), Santoshamma (6), Malavva (48) and Bheemappa (58) sustained injuries in the incident, police said. The injured have been admitted to the district hospital.

Narasappa (16) of Mansalapur in Raichur taluk was killed by lightning while he was returning home. According to police, Narasappa was walking to his village when the incident occurred. Cloudy weather accompanied with high velocity winds and heavy lightning prevailed during the evening in Yadgir and Raichur. However, there was no sign of rain.

Heavy rain

Rain lashed Mysore, Chamarajanagar and Mandya districts on Wednesday morning. The downpour lasted for about two hours in Mysore. Rain water gushed into houses in low-lying areas  in Halahalli of Mandya. The Hanuman Temple near Banaghatta in Pandavapura taluk was inundated.

Normal life was thrown out of gear in Chamarjanagar district due to heavy rain on Tuesday night and Wednesday morning. There have been no reports of loss of life and damage to property. Mandya taluk recorded 24.9 mm of rainfall while it was 45.7 mm in Chamarajanagar taluk.
