JOIN USAccording to police, a seven-member gang began pestering Govindaraj for payment of Rs 50,000 as protection money. As Govindaraj started to dither payment, the gang abducted him along with his friend Shivaraj from Majestic.
The latter was set free and asked to alert Govindaraj’s family for payment of money. The efforts of his uncle to rise money went in vain and ultimately he lodged a missing complaint on May 14. After investigation, police arrested Venugopal, Munna, Ramesh and two others.
Rs 6.5 lakh stolen
Cash of Rs 6.5 lakh was stolen from a car parked near a bank in Nagarbhavi. The victim, a civil contractor, had withdrawn the money from State Bank of Mysore, Vijayanagar. He had kept the money in a briefcase in his car, and went to State Bank of India on 4th Cross, Nagarbhavi to draw more money. When he returned, he found that the windowpanes of his car were smashed and the briefcase was missing.
