K S Lokesh, professor in Environmental Engineering, Sri Jayachamarajendra College of Engineering who was chief guest over the function, said the Western Ghats of Karnataka is one of the greatest hotspots and it covers the major forest area which is rich in biodiversity.
It forms the responsibility of the youth to nurture and protect the existing forests for the future progeny.
He said India is proud to host this year’s World Environment Project wit the theme ‘Forests nature at your service’. S Gururaj, chairman of the institution, B N Sunil Daykar, principal, Geetha Barki, headmistress others were present.
