Last Updated 29 July 2009, 19:55 IST

According to Congress MLA Roshan Baig, the BBMP has shown on records that it has spent Rs 15 crore for various mosquito control programmes. “But Bangalore has recorded highest number of chikungunya cases in the State and one person has died of dengue this year,” he stated. He said he has obtained the information through Right to Information Act.
Baig demanded the Government to order either a Lokayukta or CID probe into the issue.

Illegal hoardings

He also alleged that many politicians are behind illegal hoardings coming up across the State. “These politicians are getting around Rs 2 lakh per month from each of these hoardings located in prime areas as rent. This has not only resulted in loss of revenue to the BBMP, but defaced the whole City,” he added.
