Speaking to media persons here on Wednesday, he said that he has urged the State government regarding de-notification of agricultural land already notified by the Karnataka Industrial Area Development Board (KIADB) for the second phase of MSEZ project. Despite the assurances given by the government representatives, no step has been taken to de-notify the 1800 acre land. This has hampered the development activities that could be taken up so far by the farmers who are the owners of land, he said.

He accused that there has been no measures taken on setting up of an expert committee with two experts nominated by him to go into the impact of the emission of fly ash and ground ash and affluent from the UPCL power plant. The people are already facing several health related problems, he said and added that government has failed to keep up its promise to form an expert committee to go into the details of the problems. No development has taken place in this direction.

“If this static condition prevails till July 10, I will decide over the future course of action. The government should act with responsibility whenever there was problem to the people,” he added.

Strongly rejecting the allegations made by “some politicians” that he was “biased” over the issue of corruption by not taking up the corruption issues of Karnataka and focusing on the central government corruption issues, the seer clarified that his fight against corruption was not against any individual but against all state governments and the central government.

There should be strong mechanism to curtail corruption, he said.

He added that he supported the Sathyagraha by Yoga Guru Baba Ramdev as it was a non political movement in which saints from all religions took part.

Replying to another query, he said he is in contact with the pontiff of Sri Suttur Mutt in Mysore on mediating between the Yoga Guru and the union government to break the deadlock on the issue of corruption. He has held talks with Union Law Minister Veerappa Moily over the issue, he said.

When asked whether his silence over the state corruption issue was due to the “favour” done by the state government by keeping Sri Krishna Mutt out of the purview of new endowment act, the seer said it is the justice done by the government by rectifying the mistake made by an official on the issue of including Sri Krishna Mutt in the endowment act for not paying money he demanded from a Swamiji. Krishna temple belongs to Asta mutt, he added.
