The decision was taken after Palike Commissioner Siddaiah and Town Planning department officers visited the spot on Tuesday. The Palike is likely to serve notices to owners of about 880 properties on this stretch and road widening will begin after these properties adjoining the IIM-Bangalore are acquired.

Land acquisition

The Halgehoderhalli Road too would be widened to 18 metres according to the RMP. Nearly 700 metres of the road would be widened and the departments concerned have been instructed to start procuring land.

Non-renewal of licences

The BBMP Town Planning department has stated that the civic body is losing at least Rs 200 crore to Rs 300 crore as commercial complexes across the City have not renewed their licences procured during their building plan approval by the Bangalore Development Authority (BDA).

As a result, it has now been decided that executive engineers, assistant executive engineers and joint director (town planning) would be held responsible for defaulters in their zones.
