Rain miseries in Surathkal

Last Updated 09 June 2011, 17:47 IST

Although Mangalore City Corporation has been constantly stating that efforts are being made to rectify the road problems at Kadambodi, it has failed to prove the same.

The number of private vehicles operating in residential area of Kambodi, Surathkal has increased over the years. Pedestrians travelling to Surathkal also make use of this route.

Since the road is not asphalted, it is being easily washed away durin monsoon. Water accumalation on this road has made travelling impossible.

A part of the linking road is covered with interlocks by the efforts of the Corporation. However, due to improper laying of the interlocks, they could not sustain the rains and are damaged.

Even though the linking road is provided with a gutter, it is filled with plant debris making it impossible for water to flow easily. As a result, the water has moved to the road and flows through it.

Altough the Corporation has been promising to rectify the problem, they have failed to pay attention to remove the blockage of plant debris in the gutters, the residents informed. The Kadambodi residents hope that the authorities will take the matter seriously and have the road constucted at the earliest.
