For a long time Mysore did not have an authentic continental restaurant. Foodies of Mysore satiated their taste buds in the numerous multi-cuisine restaurants in the city. But not any more.

The intenerational Italian cafe and restaurant chain Caffe Pascucci opened its branch in Mysore, bringing joy to all connoisseurs of Italian food. With its numerous varieties of pizzas and pastas and an equal number of desserts and beverages, this cafe takes the guest on a gastronomical journey to Italy.

“The speciality of Italian pizzas is that they have a very thin crust and is almost crispy. We have the most authentic Italian cuisine,” said cafe in-charge Shivkumar. The cafe offers a wide range of pizzas — both vegetarian and non-vegetarian — along with a wide range of toppings.

The cafe offers interesting starters like wraps and fries. “This is a much deserved break form the thick crust, overflowing cheese pizzas. The cafe also offers olive oil with the usual chilli flakes and oregano which is superb,” said Sameera, a food blogger for Mysore -restaurant.blogspot.com.

The unique feature of the cafe is that the customers get to choose how thier pasta is done. They can choose from penne, funili macaroni spaghetti and can also choose what topping and spices to be added. “We always look for change and this place gives that, authentic Italian pasta,” said Tushaar, a student of microbiology in the University of Mysore.

The cafe attracts both youth and families. Sandwiches and beverages are the hot favourites among the youth while families normally go in for pizzas and pastas. “The pizzas here are very good, I recommend the Spinach garlic Feta pizza with olives. This is one of the few places in Mysore where we get good salads too,” said Clara, a student of yoga in the city who visits the cafe at least once in a week.

“This cafe is so unique, you get never before seen spices, a whole menu of new dishes and even the water is flavoured,” said Rishan who was visiting the cafe for the first time and felt that the heritage city needed such places.
Coffee lovers in Mysore have a reason to rejoice. The cafe offers authentic Italian coffee, which is made from a special bean which is stronger than normal coffee. Customers can choose from Cappuccino, espressos, black coffee, sorbetta al cafe and pasciccino to name a favourite few. The cafe gives coffee in hot cold and iced forms. Quite a treat for a caffeine addict.
Pranzos, an italian version of the combo meal has a starter, pasta and fruit salad for a complete meal. An express meal comprises of a pizza, a juice and brownie with ice cream.
No meal is complete without desserts. From ice creams to sundaes and pies, tarts and pastries, the cafe satisfies the sweet tooth of any foodie. The ‘352’, a pastry which has chocolate coffee and vanilla is a hot favourite among customers. “The caramel chocolate pie is how you end a dinner,” opined a customer. The menu carries other delights like chocolate overload, oreo dust cakes, lemon tarts and black currant sundae to name a few. Eggless tarts also make it to the menu.
So all the people who were craving for some authentic Italian food, head to this cafe and take your taste buds on a Roman holiday.
