BEML SC scored a convincing 6-2 victory over ISRO in an entertaining Super Division League encounter at the Bangalore Football stadium here on Friday.

The procession of goals began with Karthigeyan, who scored in the 22nd and 65th minutes, with Stephen (24th, 50th), Sharath (43rd) and Madhukaran (60th) also getting into the act.

BEML started the match brightly, playing at a high tempo. After some good wing play from their wide men came to nought, they found the opener through former HASC player Karthigeyan.

Mahesh Babu lifted a pass over the top of the ISRO defence for Karthigeyan, and the midfielder made no mistake in slotting calmly past goalkeeper Avijith Dey.
It was 2-0 soon after when Avinash’s cross from the left found Stephen perfectly for a tap-in.

Sharath then got on the scoresheet, driving the ball low past the goalkeeper after latching on to a nice through ball down the centre from Karthigeyan.

Best chance

ISRO’s best chance of the half fell to Sujith G, whose acrobatic bicycle kick from 15 yards out was palmed on to the crossbar by goalkeeper Nisanullah Khan.

It didn’t take long for BEML to find the target in the second half, Stephen again getting a tap-in from three yards out after some excellent work from Sharath on the left.

ISRO pulled one back through Ashok, who found a first-time shot off a pass from PK Thamodaran into the bottom-left corner from nine yards out.

Madhukaran made it 5-1 off a header from a Kalandhar cross down the right before Karthigeyan scored the best goal of the match.

A corner from Rajesh found Karthigeyan just outside the box, and the midfielder unleashed a peach of a first-time volley into the top corner.

Maju G further reduced the deficit four minutes later, but the day firmly belonged to the I-League II Division side.

In ‘A’ Division, DYSH registered a thumping 9-0 win over Royals.

Other result: ‘A’ Division: DYSH: 9 (Kalivanan 26th, 59th, U Kumar 48th, 51st, 55th, Harish 72nd, Bejoy 81st, Ravikiran, 83rd, Mahesh Mahendran 88th) bt Royals: 0.
