Neeraj, Disha emerge Cadet champions

Neeraj from JTTA hardly broke sweat in his 11-7, 11-6, 13-11 rout of Rohan Jamadagni of Horizon in the boys’ final. Earlier in the semifinals, Neeraj got past Sudeep G of Horizon 9-11, 12-10, 8-11, 11-5, 11-7 while Rohan got past Vishnu Pranav 11-6, 12-10, 11-9 in his semifinal encounter.

Disha, who plays for BNM, had to overcome a strong challenge from Gayathri T before prevailing 11-6, 7-11, 11-7, 8-11, 11-7 in the girls’ summit clash.

Disha, who beat Kushi V of Gems Club 11-6, 11-6, 16-18, 11-6 in the semifinals, claimed the first game easily 11-6 but Gayathri came back strongly to win the second 11-7.
Disha took the third game 11-7 and her rival grabbed the fourth 11-8 to level at two games all. Disha then powered to victory by clinching the fifth game 11-7.

Gayathri had beaten Medini R Bhat in her semifinal encounter.
