Chiguru celebrates first anniversary

Talking at the first anniversary celebrations of Chiguru, a forum for the specially-abled people, at the B H Patel Hall here on Saturday he said that it was common that a disability occurs by birth or due to unforseen circumstances.

He commended the efforts of Mobility India for identifying such specially abled people and providing them the entitled facilities.

 “Specially-abled are not a burden, but are self reliant and have the ability to take up responsibility,” said the district co-ordinator of Sarva Shikshana Abhiyan M Chandrakant.
Mobility India has been successful in creating a revolution among the specially abled and the Sarva Sikshana Abhiyana has set aside Rs 60 lakh for the development of the specially abled said M Chandrakant. 

He added that children below the age of 16 have been given treatment by doctors.
Zilla Panchayat member G Nagesh advised the teachers to  pay special attention to specially abled kids and encouraged them to reach greater heights. He added that they should work with determination and reach their aim.

The awareness walk which preceeded the inaugural function was flagged off in front of the Chamarajeshwara Temple by Gandhian C P Huchhe Gowda.

Chiguru President S Shivanna, Director of London DDP Kamala Achhu, zilla panchayat member A C Rajashekarappa, deputy director of women and child welfare department Gopala Krishna, welfare officer for the specially abled Jayaram and programme coordinator for Mobility India S N Anand were present at the awareness walk.
