The land will be provided for the upgradation and development of the district hospital, the lawyers said.

The decision was arrived at at a recently convened meeting between legislator K P Bachegowda, Deputy Commissioner Dr N Manjula and the lawyers.

Upgrade hospital

“To upgrade the district hospital to a 500-bed capacity modern hospital, 35 guntas of land will be provided,” the lawyers said.

Lawyers’ Association president K H Tamme Gowda speaking at the meeting said a two-storey building can be constructed at the present court complex at an estimated cost of Rs 6 crore. The State government should provide the much-needed economic assistance.

Shifting offices

The offices of assistant commissioners should be shifted to the mini Vidhana Soudha, which is in the process of construction.

Moreover, their current offices should be provided to the court, as it would facilitate both the lawyers and court activities, he said.

Also speaking on the occasion Deputy Commissioner Dr N Manjula said it was heartening to know that the lawyers gave away the land without any objection.
