Consistent domestic performances have earned him a place in the Test squad for the series against India, and Edwards is raring to have a go against the Indians. “I am feeling pretty fit. I have been working hard for the last couple of months. I am ready for a while now. If I get a chance to play in this Test match, I will give my best.

“I have worked hard in first-class matches. In February-March, I’d bowled long spells against England Lions.  I am injury-free right now, and hopefully I can go from strength to strength,” Edwards said.

Bowling on the Sabina Park pitch, Edwards said, will suit his type of bowling. “It looks a pretty good wicket with some bounce. It’s my second home here and I think it will work to my advantage,” he said.

Edwards said the Indian batsmen have a tendency to get intimidated by short-pitched bowling. “They get a bit intimidated. Last series, I have seen them coping better. There is a lot of footage of me bowling as well.

“I haven’t seen some of the younger guys in India. So it’s hard for me as well.

“India don’t have some of the good players, and hopefully we can go out there and get a good start,” he added.

Edwards said his recuperation programme has progressed well without affecting his bowling. “After the surgery, I have been doing more strength training. I can’t say I am faster or slower and that I will know if I play in this Test. I won’t say there has been any significant change in the bowling action.” The West Indian said he was eager to bowl along with Kemar Roach and Ravi Rampaul.

“I have played with Tino (Best) and (Darren) Powell. They are pretty quick. Roach bowls around 90, Rampaul too can bowl fast. So, it will be exciting to be with them,” he said.
Edwards said former West Indian fast bowlers helped him in his recovery process. “Corey Collymore has been a lot of help to me.

“Walsh and Ambrose as well have given me lot of useful info regarding fitness and training,” he said.
