Maruti strike was negligible, says Suzuki

“In a market where we sell 1.2 million vehicles a year, 16,000 vehicles was a matter of inventory adjustment,” CEO Osamu Suzuki said.

He added that he was not surprised at the short-lived labour strife, repeating Maruti's stance that it would not recognise a separate labour union for the Manesar factory demanded by the striking workers. Maruti Suzuki has one workers’ union recognised by management.
