Love your leftovers

While I don’t recommend that you reheat and eat, I suggest that you turn it around if it is still in good condition, for a better, quick-fix meal. For example: While family members tend to wrinkle their noses when offered leftover chapatis, a mouthwatering dish made from these chapathis will surely have kids happily snacking.

Naram-Garam Chapatis

Ingredients: Chapatis-4, tomato puree-1 cup, mustard seeds-1/2 tspn., finely cut green chillies-1-2 (to taste), red chilly pdr.,-1 tspn., coriander pdr.- 2 tspns., turmeric pdr.-1/2 tspn., salt to taste, oil-2 tbspns., cut coriander leaves for garnishing.

Method: Break the chapatis into small (1 inch) pieces with your hand and keep aside. In a thick bottomed pan, heat the oil and add the mustard seeds. When they crackle, add the cut green chillies and stir. Then add the tomato puree, red chilly powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder. And salt to taste and sauté for 2-3 minutes on a low flame. Add the chapathi bits and mix well. Add the water and coriander leaves and cook on a low flame till dry. Serve hot and  garnish it with some coriander leaves and sev.

Tasty Crispies

Ingredients: Chapatis-2-3, oil for deep frying, red chilly pdr.,amchur pdr., salt
Method: Cut the chapatis into four halves and keep aside. Heat  oil in a kadai and deep fry the chapati pieces till it turns golden brown and remove and place them on absorbant paper  to remove the excess oil. Sprinkle some red chilly powder, amchur powder and salt. Alternatively, sprinkle sugar on them instead of masalas. Your tasty crispies are ready for serving.

Sweet Surprise

Ingredients: Chapatis — 2-3, ghee-2 tbsp, sugar-4-5 tbsp.
Method: Break the chapatis into very small pieces with your hands and keep aside. In a thick bottomed  pan, add the ghee and heat for a few seconds. Add the chapati pieces and cook on a low flame for 1-2 minutes. Remove from heat and add the sugar to taste and mix well. Serve hot.
