An undeclared curfew prevails in the tension-gripped village where a platoon of armed police has been stationed,in addition to local police.

The work on construction of a road connecting Chinnepalli-Malachinnepalli-Muguchinnepalli villages has been taken up under National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme. Trouble started as a person objected to felling the tree in his land for construction of the road. The issue was later resolved with the intervention of Police. PSI Satish convinced the owner of the land to allow felling of the tree, and the work was carried out on Thursday.

However, the owner of the land called up police on Friday alleging that a few persons have barged into his house, damaged television and other valuables and abducted his relative.  The police came to village to inquire into the complaint and soon hundreds of villagers also gathered.

Even as Circle Inspector Siddaramegowda and Sub-Inspector K G Satish was inquiring, a relative of the complainant, who came at the spot started abusing the villagers. The situation soon turned ugly as irate villagers tried to assault the complainant. Police resorted to lathicharge to disperse the angry crowd.

Local police along with a platoon of armed reserve police are camping at the village.
