Arrested
South police on Friday arrested six people indulged in street gambling and seized Rs 22,000 stake amount from them.
Acting on a tip off, the police team led by Dy SP C D Jagadish raided them while playing the card game at Chatnalli Palya on T Narsipur Road. The accused have been identified as Muddegowda, Mahesh, Nagaraj, Puttaraj, Madappa and Kumara. The team also comprised SI Venkateshaiah, constables Prakash, Satish and others.
Sentenced
A village accountant convicted of bribe charge was sentenced to two years imprisonment and a fine of ` 8000 by the principal district sessions and special court here on Thursday.
H C Shridhar who was working in the Nanjungud town office is that person.
He had demanded for a bribe of Rs 300 to provide the family tree from M Siddaraju of Banuru village on June 29, 2007.
Siddaraju lodged a complaint with the Lokayukta police who acted on it.
