Elderly man dies in fall

Police said Ishwar, a small-time businessman, was standing on the narrow parapet on the terrace around 11 pm when he lost his balance and fell to the ground.

He was rushed to a nearby hospital where he died of severe head injuries.

Auto driver robbed

Three unidentified men robbed an autorickshaw driver on Friday night in Jnanabharathi police limits.

Lakshman, a resident of Byadarahalli on Magadi Road, told the police that the suspects stopped his autorickshaw near Dr Rajkumar Samadhi and asked him to take them to Nagarbhavi Circle. Once inside, they threatened Lakshman at knifepoint, robbed him of valuables, pushed him out, and fled with the autorickshaw. A little later, as he was walking towards his home, he found his auto abandoned on the road, he said in his complaint.

‘Beggar’ robs woman

A man robbed a home-alone woman of two gold chains and Rs 1,500 in GM Palya on Friday night. Police said the man pretending to be a beggar knocked on her house door, and when she opened the door, he brandished a knife and took away her ornaments and cash.

Chains snatched

An unidentified man allegedly snatched two gold chains from a woman in Kumaraswamy Layout police limits late on Friday night. 

The incident took place near Sarakki Gate bus stop on Kanakapura Main Road when the victim, Lakshmamma, a resident of Ramakrishna Nagar, was returning from her sister’s house.

The suspect followed her, snatched the chains when she approached the bus stop, and fled, police said.

Fake Bescom staff on prowl

Unidentified men, posing as Bescom staffers, have been selling fake electronic goods to gullible citizens in the South Division, Police Commissioner Jyothiprakash Mirji stated in a press release.
