Addressing reporters here on Friday, Shetty said that the organisation will work for the development of the art as well as for the welfare of artistes. Free accident insurances will be distributed to all Yakshagana artistes through the Prathistana, he said adding that the organisation also has plans to introduce pension schemes for the retired artists.
Shetty said that about 75 artistes have already registered their names with the organisation. Application forms for the registration will be distributed to artists directly at Yakshagana programme venues in the region, he added.
President Padyana Ganapathi Bhat, convenors Sanjay Kumar Shetty, D Manohar Kumar and Kadri Navaneet Shetty were present.
