<p>The management of the St Johhn’s High School for boys here took the decision after a magisterial inquiry ordered by the Chandigarh administration held the teacher guilty of corporal punishment.<br /><br />The terminated teacher Reema Talwar had reportedly repeatedly slapped the student for failing to recite a mathematics table.<br /><br />The student Akshay had complained to parents who lodged a complaint with the administration following which a magisterial inquiry was ordered. The inquiry held that the teacher had slapped the child “more than once.”<br /><br />Akshay’s mother had claimed her son had suffered emotional trauma after being humiliated by the teacher who had also reportedly asked his classmates to laugh at him after calling him a “D grade student.”<br /><br />Kavita Das, principal of the school said: “As a responsible institution, we are absolutely clear that no one is above the law.”<br /><br />The senior standing counsel of the administration had recommended lodging a criminal case against the teacher in case the school did not take any action against her.</p>
