He was addressing the media persons at Jaladarshini Guest House in the city.
Mocking at the same, Siddaramaiah questioned why the board doesn’t have a photo of Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh.

Siddaramaiah said that 80 per cent of the funds are being released from the Central Government for the works taken up under Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM) in the City while each of State Government and local body releases 10 per cent of the funds as matching funds.

When the media persons brought to his notice that development progress review meetings have not been held for the past one year, Siddaramaiah expressed his helplessness refering to the recent circular issued by the State Government. However, Member of Parliament has the right to conduct the meeting. “I will ask H Vishwanath, the MP to take an initiative”, said Siddaramaiah.

At council too

The issue pertaining to JNNURM raised by Siddaramaiah, had also been raised at the council meeting held several months ago. The issue had cropped up following an advertisement that had appeared in a newspaper during the first anniversary of the BJP government in the State. JNNURM had found place in the list of developmental works launched by the BJP government in the State. Councillors of both Congress and JD(S) had sought a clarification about the same. In his reply, MCC Commissioner K S Raykar had said that the State Government had the right to claim it as it is also contributing 10 per cent of the funds.

BPL cards withdrawn

He exuded confidence of winning all the five assembly seats that are going for by-polls.
He alleged that the BPL cards issued before LS polls are being cancelled by the government in haste. The cards were issued as one of the means to win people’s love and affection to win the polls, he further alleged.
