JNNURM: Nine projects approved

Library buildings, interlock pavings, RWH tank will be taken up

Mysore City Corporation (MCC) Superintendent Engineer B K Suresh Babu told Deccan Herald that, the civic body had forwarded 50 projects under the same programme, seeking the approval of the authorities concerned. Initially, the authorities have given their nod for nine projects, each estimated to cost Rs 10 lakh. While Rs one lakh has been collected from the residents of the respective localities where the works have been planned, the remaining Rs nine lakh will be released from the Central Government.

The works are as follows: Construction of library buildings and interlock pavement at the parks in 26th main, ‘B’ block and ‘D’ block in J P Nagar. Improvement of the park in 25th cross and construction of a building for Sthree Shakti Samaj in second stage, Hebbal.

Construction of rainwater harvesting tank and anganwadi centre in first stage, Hebbal. Construction of new library building at Gangothri layout, community hall at Manchegowdana Koppal village, first phase and biomethanation projects for processing bio-degradable waste of one MT per day into methane gas and manure in Ittigegudu.
Suresh Babu said that, it was only after considering the demands of the locals, the programmes were chalked out. The funds collected towards the project was deposited in the bank, before forwarding the approval including the details pertaining to the funds, to the Ministry of Urban Development. The civic body has been directed to initiate measures to invite tenders for the projects.

Maintenance

The Department of Library will provide the books and other necessary articles to the library. The libraries will benefit especially those who have got passion for reading, besides enriching their knowledge. Dept of Library will maintain the libraries, he added.
