CRS to conduct inquiry; 2 special trains to rush to site

A special train will run from Howrah to Fatepur and another will start from Delhi to Kanpur for carrying relatives and friends of accident victims to the site," said Chandralekha Mukherjee, Railways Executive Director (Information & Publicity) here today.

The train will start at 7.30 pm from Howrah and Delhi simultaneously. Asked about the possible reason of the accident, Mukherjee said, "It has not been ascertained yet. Commissioner Railway Safety Balbir Singh has been asked to conduct the inquiry to find out the reason," she said.

Railway Board Chairman Vinay Mittal along with senior railway officials have reached the spot to expedite the resuce and relief operations.

Helpline services have also been launched at Delhi (23962389, 23967332), Allahabad (05322407352, 05322408128) Fathepur (05180222025, 05180222026) Kanpur (05122323015, 05122323016) and Khurja (05738253084) for giving details of the relief and rescue operations.

At least 35 people were killed and over 200 injured when 15 bogies of a speeding Delhi-bound Kalka Mail derailed near Malwa station in UP today in the worst train accident this year.

The derailment resulted in cancellation and diversion of a number of trains including major ones like the Rajdhanis in the Allahabad-Kanpur section.

Bhubaneswar Rajdhani, Howrah Rajdhani and Patna Rajdhani are being diverted due to the disruptions in Allhabad-Kanpur section, said a Northern Railway spokesperson.

Allahabad-Meerut City Sangam Express, Allahabad-Dehradun Link Express scheduled to leave Allahabad on July 10 and Dehradun-Allahabad Link Express and Meerut City-Allahabad Sangam Express scheduled to leave Dehradun/Meerut Cantt. on July 11 will remain cancelled due to the accident.

Anand Vihar-Bhagalpur Vikramshila Express, Anand Vihar-Rajinder Nagar Jan Sadharan Express, New Delhi-Howrah Poorva Express, New Delhi-Sealdah Rajdhani Express, New Delhi-Howrah-Rajdhani Express, New Delhi-Rajinder Nagar Rajdhani Express, 12422 New Delhi Bhubneshwar Rajdhani Express, New Delhi-Rajinder Nagar Sampooran Kranti Express and New Delhi-Puri Purshotam Express have been diverted to run via Kanpur-Lucknow.

Anand Vihar-Sita Marhi Lichvi Express, Delhi-Howrah Janta Express, New Delhi-Howrah Yuva Express, Delhi-Kolkata Lal Quila Express, New Delhi-Allahabad Prayagraj Express,  New Delhi-Darbhanga Swatantrata Sainani Express and New Delhi-Allahabad Duronto Express have been cancelled on date.

Some trains have been diverted in the affected route. Howrah-Jodhpur Express, Sealdah-Ajmer Express, Guwahati-Barmer Express, have been diverted to run via Allahabad-Unchahar-Lucknow-Kanpur section.

Jammu Tawi-Tata Nagar Muri Express, Anand Vihar-Guwahati North East Express, New Delhi-Howrah Express, Anand Vihar-Jogbani Seemanchal Express, Kalka-Howrah Kalka Mail, Delhi-Alipurduar Sikkim Mahananda Express, has been diverted to run via Kanpur-Lucknow-Mughal Sarai.

Tata Nagar-Jammu Tawi Muri Express and Guwahati-Anand Vihar North East Express have been diverted to run via Allahabad-Unchahar and Lucknow-Kanpur respectively.

Hissar-Gorakhpur Gorakhdham Express, New Delhi-Varanasi Shiv Ganga Express, Amritsar-Sealdah Jalianwala Bagh Express, have been diverted to run via Moradabad.

Varanasi-New Delhi Shiv Ganga Express and Sita Marhi-Anand Vihar have been diverted to run via Varanasi-Lucknow-Kanpur-Ghaziabad.
