The exhibition, organised by the Dakshina Kannada Philatelic and Numismatic Association (DKPNA) on Sunday, provided an opportunity for stamp lovers to know more about their passion.

This month’s exhibition mainly featured miniature sheet collection of DKPNA Vice President Baikady Srinivas Rao. His collection includes the first miniature sheet India Post published in 1973 to the latest one of Indo –African Forum Summit. A total of 91 miniature sheets were featured in the exhibition.

“The sheets not only provide the background image of the stamp, but also the vast knowledge on the subject depicted on the stamp,” said Baikady Srinivasa Rao. DKPNA President M K Krishnayya said that the parents have a bigger role in encouraging their kids in stamp and coin collection.

“Children collect stamps and coins very active initially, but during public exam time, they don’t have time to look after that and the habit gradually terminates,” he said. DKPNA is also organising exhibitions in different schools to promote stamp and coin collection among students.

“If we didn’t promote the habit, there is a chance of extinction of this serious hobby,” he added.
