Owners to face action for not operating buses

Speaking at the Karnataka Development Programmes (KDP) review meeting here on Monday, he said “we have received complaints on the owners failing to operate buses to rural areas. A detailed report on the same will be received within a week.”

District-in-Charge Minister Krishna Palemar said “we had sought KSRTC bus services to Meramajalu, Bajpe, and Chelar and the request has not been  implemented. The KSRTC should provide buses services to those rural areas which do not have any means of transportation.”

The officer from Pradhan Mantri Grama Sadak Yojane said that six works undertaken under PMGSY are of poor quality. As the contractor failed to follow the court order and repair the road, it has been decided to invite tender again for the completion of the work.

Minior irrigation department official said that a proposal of Rs 25 crore has been sent to the government to have maximum utilisation of water from rivers flowing in the region by ways of check dams and vented dams. Under Paschima vahini scheme, as many as 292 works have been identified. The KDP meeting decided to oppose Nethravathi river diversion scheme. The minor irrigation department executive engineer said that the department has not conducted any survey on the scheme.

MLC Kota Srinivas Poojary asked why paddy was not included in organic farming category of the Suvarna Bhoomi scheme.  District-in-Charge Minister Krishna Palemar directed Agriculture department Joint Director Padmayya Naik to give a complete details on why paddy was not included under organic farming category, within a week. 

Naik said a proposal on Kerala model of incentives for paddy in Dakshina Kannada has been submitted to the Agriculture Commissioner. The estimated cost of the proposal is Rs 851.75 lakh. The proposal aims at encouraging farmers to grow paddy in the region.
