The Board has asked the BGML Managing Director B L Bhagra to reply within 15 days.
The town has 13 cyanide hills belonging to the BGML and their total area is 220 acres.

These hills are the deposits of gold dusts. But absence of a retaining wall or even greenery on the hills has led to environmental pollution.

People living nearby the hills complain that water flowing down from the hills is highly polluted, but there has been no initiative by the BGML to check it. “At least water must be sprayed on the hills to check dust raising from the hills,” they had suggested.

The notice observed that 20,000 houses in BGML colony located around the hills have been affected due to the dust.

The BGML management board has been asked to what scientific measure it would take to check the dust and submit a report in 15 days, lest it may face action.

Labour leader K Rajendran had complained about environmental pollution due to Cyanide hills which followed an inspection by the Pollution Control Board authorities.
