Last Updated 13 July 2011, 18:44 IST

Gowda was speaking at a campaign meeting for the APMC elections at Doddahasala in the taluk. Gowda said Prakash was trying to lure away candidates belonging to his (Gowda’s) faction by offering them money.

Gowda said he would retire from politics if the MLA manages to get his candidates elected in any of the Gram Panchayats in the taluk without the use of money power.
‘Politics of cunning’

“If Varthur is really capable, he should stop weaning away candidates from my faction and try to get candidates of his own faction elected. He should stop indulging in politics of cunning,” Gowda said.

The MLA was offering Rs 2,000 per vote in APMC elections, Gowda alleged.
He said the MLA was giving false information that the road development work at Doddahasala and Chatrakodihalli had been taken up taken up with funds from the local MLA’s funds, while in reality the work had been implemented with money from MGNREGS.

Gowda said the voters should teach Prakash a lesson for his false claim that the constituency had been developed in all respects in the last three years.

M Govindegowda, C Muniyappa, Naganala Somanna and others were present on the occasion.
