Come July 15 and movie-buffs will be pulled into the world of wands, wizards, charms and spells once again, albeit for the final time!

With the last and most awaited part of the ‘Harry Potter’ series, ‘Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2’,  hitting the screens, that too in 3D, people of all ages are surely looking forward to witnessing the magical, larger-than-life fight between the good and the bad— between Harry’s intelligent gang and Voldemort’s merciless Death Eaters.

Fans can expect some mesmerising action sequences with the characters flying in the air, chanting spells and battling with their wands. And of course, the final battle between the heroic Harry and the venomous Voldemort. Metrolife speaks to some die-hard fans of ‘Harry Potter’ to find out whether they are all set to catch the action.

Kishore Mohan Raj, a third year student of CMRIT, has been waiting for six months to watch the movie.

“I have read all the books and the movies are as good as the books so far,” he says. But Kishore isn’t all that excited about the movie releasing in 3D.

“The 3D is just a gimmick. I think I will give it a pass and watch it in 2D itself,” he adds. Among all the actors, Kishore’s favourite is Tom Felton, who plays the dreadful Draco Malfoy, who keeps taking a dig at Harry throughout the series.

“His acting is absolutely brilliant. In the books, my favourite character is Ron Weasley,” he feels. “But I wish the author had clearly shown what happens to their lives post the fight. The ending was a little abrupt,” he laments.

Yes, some fans are disappointed that it’s the last part! “But all good things must come to an end,” says Shamia Sekar, a fourth year student at Jain College of Engineering.

“It was one of the best series possible and J K Rowling did an awesome job. It is unlike other normal fantasy fiction. It has romance, action, mystery and basically everything,” she adds. A big fan of Emma Watson, she says, “She is so pretty and plays the part of Hermoine so well. Even Malfoy and Ron Weasley are good characters. But I am not a fan of Harry at all!” In fact, her favourite character is Dobby, the house elf!

“And I probably hate the character of Bellatrix more than that of Voldemort.” Waiting to watch the last fight sequence in 3D, she says, “But no movie can be as good as a book.”
Kavya Lakshminarayanan, another student of CMRIT, begs to differ.

“Yes there are critics saying that the movies are not as good as the books but I love seeing Harry Potter as much as I love reading it,” she says.

“I loved all the seven movies and I just want to tell people to not compare them to the books.” What’s the best thing about the series? “It’s the most amazing series because of the kind of images it paints in your mind.

It transports you to a different world yet it’s so grounded in reality. It’s the perfect world — real as well as imaginary at the same time,” she sums up. Ask her about the 3D experience and she says, “More than the 3D, it’s the series that excites me. And it’s ‘Harry Potter’ after all. It can never let you down!”

With a tagline that goes ‘It all ends here’, the fans want some more action. Are you listening J K Rowling?
