Q  I have pimples and marks on my face. My skin is oily too. What should I do for clean and clear skin?

A Pimples or acne is a common skin condition, caused by changes in the pilosebaceous units. Acne is most common during adolescence, affecting more than 85 per cent of teenagers and frequently continues into adulthood. The cause in adolescence is generally an increase in male sex hormones, which people of both genders accrue during puberty.  It is more common in women than in men during adulthood. Do not pick or squeeze your pimples. As tempting as it may be, do not squeeze, scratch, rub or touch your pimples. Drink 8-10 glasses of water as drinking water is essential for clean skin and your overall health.

Since your skin is oily, wash your face frequently 4-5 times per day.

*Make an orange peel paste by grinding it in some water. Apply on and around pimples.

*Mix lime juice and rose water in equal portions, apply on affected area. Wash it off after 20-30 minutes with lukewarm water.

*Apply ripe tomato or cucumber pulp on acne pimples and keep upto 1 hour, then wash.

*Make a paste of sandalwood with rose water. Apply on affected area. Wash after 20-30 minutes with lukewarm water.

In case there is no improvement or if the acne is worsening, consult a dermatologist for appropriate treatment.

In order to reduce weight, exercise or walk for 30 minutes a day. Avoid oily and fatty food, eat lots of vegetables, salads, fruits.
