Multiple worries dog BJP in State

Last Updated 28 July 2011, 19:19 IST

Like a day earlier, even on Thursday, BJP leaders were struggling to make Chief Minister Yeddyurappa accept the high command’s decision to demit office.

While the Governor did not announce his next course of action, the BJP is worried that President’s Rule may be imposed, despite there being no indications to this effect.

However, the chief minister did not cause further damage to the party by seeking dissolution of the Legislative Assembly. He even cancelled the State Cabinet meeting he was scheduled to chair on Thursday afternoon. As there is no quorum required to hold the Cabinet meeting, the chief minister could have convened the meeting, even if a majority of his detractors had sought leave of absence.

This particular aspect has made the party high command not to rub Yeddyurappa the wrong way too much, till the time he ceases to be the legislature party leader. There were no indications as to whether Yeddyurappa will attend Friday’s legislature party meeting.
