Home guards recruitment from Aug 11

 People joining the Home guards will not be paid a salary, but will draw Rs 175 per day if they are called into duty. Anyone aged between 20 and 50 years can join the Home guards.

The recruitment drive will take place at CAR Parade Grounds on Mysore Road and  free application forms will be distributed from 9 am to 1 pm. Applicants will have to pass the physical endurance test and medical fitness test. The minimum height for women is 165 cms, while the minimum height for men is 170 cms. Only those who pass all the criteria will be allowed to obtain application forms. Skilled personnel (driving, plumbing, electrician, tailoring etc) will be given preference in the selection. 

Apart from assisting the police in maintaining law and order, the Home Guards also play a vital role in protecting the life and property during calamities like floods, fire, earthquakes, collapse of building and other disasters.

The volunteers are enrolled and trained in basic civil defence and in various services aimed at implementation of civil defence measures.
