The boy has been identified as Shivu of Girijana Colony in Maanemoole Hadi.
Dr Devi Anand and Mobile Girijana Health unit’s Dr Raghunath told Deccan Herald that the children were malnourished making them prone to the disease.
They said that blood samples of the children have been sent to the lab for diagnoses.
The hadi, which has 25-30 families, lacks basic facilities and has no access to even an
Anganwadi.
The denizens go to Kerala, Kodagu and other places to work as daily-wage labourers.
They aren’t concerned about health and fail to go to hospitals for treatment. Despite repeated requests from health officials, the people fail to go to the hospital, they added.
