In the name of Raj

These days one often gets to hear and see the innovative ways in which a movie is promoted and packaged to attract the audience. The promoters of Raaj, The Showman, one of the most awaited movies of Sandalwood have also been inspired. Just a few days before its worldwide release, the crew has erected a 45-ft high mould of Dr Rajkumar in front of Santosh Theatre, which took almost three months to construct.

“We had initially called the movie Polli but then we decided to change the name and the first thing that came to my mind was Dr Rajkumar and that’s how Raaj, The Showman came into being,” says Hattrick Director Prem, while adding, “this is the first time anyone has attempted such a thing and it is our way of felicitating him. The mould will be there till the movie runs in the theatre. After which the mould will be shifted to the Rajkumar samadhi.”

“Since the movie is scheduled to release in 120 theatres all over the world, it will be difficult to have such a figure at all the theatres. Our main theatre in Mysore too wanted such a mould to be made for them but we don’t have enough time for that.
However we will be putting up huge cut-outs for sure.”
