Last Updated 08 August 2011, 18:10 IST

In Hemmanahalli, the students complained that the KSRTC buses did not stop in the village in the morning, causing inconvenience to them.

Despite the police officers’ attempt to pacify them, the students continued the protest till KSRTC depot manager Manjunaik arrived at the spot and promised to ensure that all the buses had a stoppage in the villages.

In Nidaghatta, the residents and students complained the buses plying through their village did not have a stoppage there. They withdrew the protests after the depot manager promised to write to all the depots, directing them to give stoppage at Nidaghatta. A traffic policeman will be deployed and barricades will be placed to ensure the buses give stoppage, he said.

The protest triggered traffic jam for several hours with vehicles stranded for several miles on the Bangalore-Mysore and Tumkur highways.
