JOIN USThe deceased is Lohith (22), son of Kannachanda Muthappa, a resident of Biligeri village. Bopanna, son of Mudera Acchaiah is the accused.
It is said that Lohith had come to the residence of Bopanna on Thursday to stay over night. At the residence of Bopanna, Lohith, his brother Prithvi and Bopanna decided to have a booze party. The party went on till late in the night but Lohith and Bopanna got into an altercation over the issue of Boppanna pledging the gold of Lohith’s mother. The altercation took a tragic turn when drunk Bopanna lost his temper and slew down Lohith using a sickle.
After the murder Bopanna called up his brother and told him that he has committed a mistake, which will come to light the next day.
Bhanu, mother of the deceased in her complaint has said that Bopanna had pledged her gold and her son was killed only because he had urged Bopanna to get back the gold.
However, Bopanna’s parents were not at home as both had gone to Puttur for health check up.
They were shocked to know about the incident early on Friday morning on their return. Bopanna is absconding and the police are on a look out for him. A case has been registered.
