The Opposition MPs sought to raise the issue during Zero Hour, but Speaker Meira Kumar did not allow them to do so. This triggered a ruckus and Kumar had to adjourn the House for nearly one and a half hours.

Virbhadra Singh, former chief minister of Himachal Pradesh, has been accused of being involved in a corruption case. The state police filed a case against him and his wife Pratibha Singh on Tuesday.

Buta Singh’s son Sarobjit Singh was recently arrested by the CBI for allegedly seeking bribe from a Nashik-based contractor Ram Raj Patil, for influencing his father and NCSC chairman to settle an atrocities case registered against him.

BJP MP Rakesh Singh had sought to raise the issue in the House on Friday – the last day of the second session of the 15th Lok Sabha. The other BJP MPs also joined to demand the Speaker’s permission to raise the issue of alleged involvement of Virbhadra Singh and Buta Singh.

They chanted slogans accusing the government of trying to shield the allegedly corrupt minister and NCSC chairman.
