But she had quite a few feathers in her hat before this. In a chat with ‘Metrolife’, this 22-year-old model talks about her preparations for the upcoming pageant and also about Bollywood.

About winning the crown, she says it was the most memorable experience of her life. “Miss India is the most coveted pageant in the country and I felt that it’s the best platform to display my talent to the country and then to the world. This is the reason I got into it in the first place.”

“The fact that I modelled for a year and a half before I entered the pageant helped. Having beauty with brains was an added advantage,” she laughs. So what is her personal style statement? “I believe in the concept that what you wear is an extension of your personality. So I wear clothes that I am comfortable in rather that making a style statement. Fashion is all about experimenting, but it is important to let yourself shine through whatever you wear.”

Ask her about the City and she is quick to mention that Bangalore is slowly becoming a fashion hub of sorts. “Bangalore’s fashion market is growing rapidly. It does not surprise me at all as you find so many young and talented designers and models here. Compared to the previous years, the fashion scene is blooming.”

Kanishtha says she is open to working in movies too provided a good script comes along. She adds, “There are a few movies that are really thought-provoking and send out a positive message. I would love to work in such movies which bring about a positive change.”

Talking about films, does she mind doing an item number? And she says, “I do not think I am open to doing item numbers.”  Right now, she has her focus on the Miss World pageant. She says she is putting in the same amount of effort that she did for the Miss India title.

“When I won the title I knew my biggest dream had come true. But this was possible only after going through many rigorous exercises. So now I am preparing both physically and mentally and working towards winning the Miss World crown without any distractions. I want to bring home the crown,” she says.
