Apart from the pact on mutual legal assistance in criminal and civilian matters, the MoUs in the fields of tourism and science and technology are likely to be inked by the two countries soon, Wadhwa said.

The Ambassador said the MoU on mutual legal assistance in criminal and civilian matters is a supplement to the extradition treaty.

"Both need to exist at the same time because both the countries exchange information and provide help in capturing fugitives. With trans-border crimes increasing, it becomes very important to sign this," he told 'Times of Oman'.

The MoU on tourism, besides boosting the organised tourism sector, would also look at medical tourism.

Restoration of tourist places, conversation of heritage sites and training in tourism of personnel of both countries are some of the key features of the agreement.

The Ambassador said that both sides were also working on the extension of the already existing MoU on science and technology. India is already working with The Research Council on a few projects, he said.

Besides, an agreement on standardisation is also nearing completion, Wadhwa said.
The Indian embassy in Oman will also be organising a 'Made in India' show in the country from September 20 to 22.

"The exhibition, with the participation of more than 100 Indian companies, will open at 10 am on September 20," the Ambassador said.

The embassy is organising a seminar on September 21 on the occasion of the visit of a business delegation.

A medical tourism seminar is also being organised at the Indian embassy on September 11.

According to the Ambassador, India and Oman are going to a have a strategic dialogue in the Foreign Office at the level of Under Secretaries in October.
