A journey of discovery

One of the viewpoint is of the protagonist, an American-Palestinian who returns to the land her grandparents had left, looking for the lost world she has heard about. The other is of a young man, who is frustrated at the thanklessness of life in his crisis-ridden country and wants to live it at any cost.

The journey of the two characters, Soraya and Emad, intertwine in dramatic circumstances, and together they start a journey of discovering their country and themselves. The viewer is also taken in a journey of Palestine’s current and not-too-distant history. What makes the film interesting is its subtle references to the complexities of the Palestine-Israel issue as one travels with the protagonists in their journey as the camera captures some breathtaking landscape of the unfortunate country.

It is a film that will make you contemplate about the impact of man-made crises on the mankind, even though some might find the character sketch of Soraya too in-your-face and annoying as against that of Emad, played brilliantly the Saleh Bakri, one of the best talents in the region’s cinema currently.
