Last Updated 02 September 2011, 18:00 IST

Vishwendra and his supporters were protesting outside the Laxmi Vilas Hotel against the allegedly derogatory comments in a book written by Raghuraj Singh.

Vishwenrda claimed the book “Achhooti Smritiyan” by Raghuraj contains many incorrect historical facts and derogatory remarks against his forefathers.

Following the incident, the district administration imposed prohibitory order in the area.
Following Vishwendra’s demand that the perpetrators be arrested within 24 hours failing which he would launch a massive agitation, extra police force, including two STF companies, have been deployed in Bharatpur to maintain law and order. The police have registered cross-FIRs from Vishwendra and Raghuraj.

Senior police officers said the incident occurred at 9.45 am when Vishwendra and as many as 60 supporters gathered outside the hotel owned by Raghuraj to protest.

The police maintained that some of the protesters began ransacking Raghuraj’s residence and throwing stones, allegedly after being taunted, and someone opened fire on them from the hotel building.
