TCL to start tomorrow

Called Touche Golf Gang War last year that offered a chance for club-level golfers to exhibit their skills on a bigger stage, TCL will see 96 teams (1,536 participants) slugging it out for supremacy in the three-month long event.

An amateur-only team event open to competitors with a handicap up to 21 for men and 24 for ladies, TCL will be staged across four zones -- North, East, West and South -- with the winning team from each zone qualifying for the mega final at Victoria Golf and Country Resort in Kandy on December 3-4.

“After last year’s success, we though of eexpanding the event to clubs across India,” said Rathan Kumar, managing director of Touche Golf Sports Pvt Ltd, here on Saturday.

The TCL will kick off with the South Zone qualifying rounds at Clover Greens Golf Course on September 5 and 6 before staging the next two rounds at the Karnataka Golf Association (Sept 7-8).

From the qualifying rounds which will be held in strokeplay format, the top four teams will lock horns in the zonal finals with the winner advancing for the mega final. The zonal and mega finals will be contested on the matchplay format.

Each team can field 16 participants with only 12 eligible to compete on a particular day.
Zonal finals dates: West: BPGC (Oct 20); East: RCGC (Oct 21); North: ITC Classic (Oct 22); South: KGA (Oct 25).
