Amar Singh being made scapegoat: Mohan Singh

Last Updated 06 September 2011, 11:25 IST

Samajwadi Party general secretary Mohan Singh's comments came soon after Rajya Sabha member Amar Singh was sent to judicial custody along with two former Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MPs alleged to be involved in the scandal.

"The Supreme Court had asked Delhi Police to find the source of the money in the cash-for-votes deal. Without knowing that, Amar Singh has been made the scapegoat to hide the police's shoddy investigation,” Mohan Singh told news channel CNN-IBN.

"The real culprit is yet to be found. You cannot go to the bottom of the matter by simply accusing Amar Singh,” Mohan Singh said, adding that the "issue is related to individuals and not the Samajwadi Party".

On July 22, 2008, three BJP MPs waved wads of currency notes in the Lok Sabha ahead of a trust vote, alleging they were given the money to vote in favour of the Manmohan Singh government.
