Teachers feted for their service

Hence they should sincerely work to shape their students as responsible citizens, said Karnataka Legislative Assembly Speaker K G Bopaiah.

He was speaking at the Teachers’ day programme organised by Kodagu Zilla Panchayat, Department of Public Instructions and Karnataka State Teachers’ Welfare Fund at St Joseph’s School on Monday.

“Compared to all other Northern states teachers are undergoing wage discrimination in Karnataka. I hope that the Education Minister will take care of the issue,” he said.
Speaking about Vision 2020, the dream of former president Dr A P J Abdul Kalam, he said that for India to become a developed nation there needs to be increase in the literacy rate.

Both the Central and the State governments are granting enough fund for Education and it should be utilised properly, he insisted.

Presiding over the function, Zilla Panchayat President Shanteyanda Ravi Kushalappa promised to take action to provide salary to the teachers on time, after holding discussions with Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer and Zilla Panchayat  Chief Accounts Officer.

Retired teacher and Rajya Vijnana Parishat Honourary Secretary M R Nagaraju was the chief speaker. Additional DC K M Chandre Gowda, DIET Deputy Director Siddhalinga Swamy and others were present.

Some of the selected teachers from the district were felicitated on the occasion for their immense contribution to the field of education.

Head masters from the schools which received 100 per cent result in the SSLC exam and retired teachers too were felicitated.
